Bijay Basukala, born 1965 in Bhaktapur, completed the certificate level in architectural engineering in 1985 and joined Niels Gutschow for architectural surveys in the Kathmandu Valley, Mustang and Mugu. He has also worked in Cambodia (1995), Orissa (1999) and Mongolia (2003). Niels Gutschow, born 1941 in Hamburg, is honorary professor at the South Asia Institute, Heidelberg University. His has worked in Nepal since 1970, focusing on urban rituals and the history of architecture (Architecture of the Newars, 3 vols, 2011). Kishor Kayastha, born 1978 in Bhaktapur, learnt photography from his mother at the age of nine. He has since distinguished himself as one of the leading photographers of Nepal.
