Story of a British Army expedition attempt on an unclimbed 7,295 metre peak called The Crown in the Chinese Karakorum, near K2, in 1987.  The author, a Falklands veteran who suffered from post-battle depression, joined the inexperienced ten man team led by Captain Henry Morgan and was appointed “official” cameraman.  The team made the long journey through China, struggled with bureaucracy, and came within a few rope-lengths of the summit before having to abandon the attempt.  The Crown received its first ascent by a Japanese team in 1993.
