South Indian 'Megalithic' Burials: The Pandakal Complex

This volume deals with a longknown yet still controversial complex of burials found in several parts of South India. Their particular importance lies in the claim that they are intimately associated with theearly Dravidians and thus, with the beginning of south Indian culture. A careful consideration of the complex as a whole leads to a different conclusion: The Autor's analysis, with close attention to artefact typology and ecological factors lends support to older theories now little regarded, which idetify the burials with nomads who arrived from the north-west at thr time when the Tamil Kingdoms were already full established.
