Heart Essence of Chetsun, Vol 1, The Perfect Secret Bindu

This text illuminates the teachings that are in the Mahasandhi cycle of upadesha instruction that must be received directly from a qualified lineage master. The Chetsun Nyingtig emerged from the wisdom mind of the great yogi Chetsun Senge Wangchuk, who received the transmissions and blessings in pure visions from Paṇḍita Vimalamitra. Chetsun was reborn as Jamyang Khyentse Wangpo, who transmitted these remarkable practices and teachings to Jamgon Kongtrul Lodro Thaye and other great masters. Khenchen Namdrol Rinpoche received the Chetsun Nyingtig transmissions from HH Khenpo Jigmed Phuntsok Rinpoche and Kyabje Penor Rinpoche. Through Khenpo Namdrol’s kindness, these precious instructions have been brought into the English language and transmitted to fortunate disciples.

Heart Essence of Chetsun: The Perfect Secret Bindu is the commentary composed by Jamgon Kongtrul Lodro Thaye with the root revelation of Jamyang Khyentse Wangpo embedded within it. Khenchen Namdrol Rinpoche’s extensive commentary is based upon these writings, and all three are presented in this book. This text includes the historical context, how to bring maturity through empowerment, and how to realize liberation through oral instructions. These upadesha instructions include the preliminaries of Dzogchen practice up to the practices of trekcho and togal.

Qualifications for this book: All those who have the fortunate wish to engage with this level of practice must first receive the Nyingtig Yabzhi or the Chetsun Nyingtig empowerment, followed by the reading transmission and upadesha instructions. That is the recommended approach. If this is not possible, disciples must at minimum receive a Great Perfection empowerment for the dynamic strength of awareness from a highly qualified lineage master.
